2024 Miss Earth Northern Marianas Heavenly Pangelinan models at an eco-fashion show she organized in February. Her successor will be crowned this Saturday, July 19, at Marianas Beach Resort.
A NEW Miss Earth NMI will be crowned on Saturday when the Miss Northern Marianas Earth pageant takes the stage at Marianas Beach Resort starting at 5 p.m.
Tickets are sold at Megabyte, by the candidates and through the Miss Earth NMI board Facebook account.
This year’s contestants are Ny’Elle Brown, Angel Calage, Jazel Rebuenog, Princess Gerardino, Jessara Rogopes, Darlincia Masga, Aria Keilbach, Kiki Seman, Precious Castro, and Julony Indalecio.
The reigning Miss Earth Northern Marianas, Heavenly Pangelinan, said she’s excited for the women competing for the crown. The winner will go on to represent the CNMI at the international Miss Earth pageant.
“I feel really excited to share knowledge with the next girl who wins the crown,” Pangelinan said. “We have such a good batch of candidates — my successor is going to do a great job filling the position.”
Pangelinan said the contestants will vie for the title in the costume, question and answer, swimsuit, and other competitions.
She believes the woman who demonstrates “poise and posture” will be judged the fittest for the title.
“I think winning would feel surreal for them, and that they’re going to feel accomplished after all their hard work — rehearsals, hours doing their makeup, and showing up to community events,” she said.
Because the Miss Earth crown is about “beauty with a purpose,” Pangelinan adds that the new Miss Earth will need to come up with ways to protect the environment once she wears the crown.
The new queen will be responsible for “finding opportunities for the CNMI to increase environmental sustainability” and taking the initiative to collaborate with community partners on environmental projects, Pangelinan said.
