MOBIL Oil Marianas and Shell Marianas on Friday and Saturday raised their fuel prices by 10 cents.
It is the second fuel price hike this month, and the third since the two consecutive price rollbacks earlier this year.
Mobil Oil raised its prices at 10:30 a.m. Friday and Shell followed suit on Saturday.
The per gallon price of regular gasoline went up to $5.02 from $4.92; premium gas to $5.47 from $5.37; and diesel to $5.33 from $5.18.
Former Department of Public Works Secretary John S. Reyes said with fuel prices rising, he and his family would have to spend more on gasoline because they have three cars, one of which requires “too much gas.”
Luckily, he said, his wife who drives to Kagman where she works has a sedan, which doesn’t use up a lot of gas. But he said their two other cars “eat up $60 worth of gas in about two weeks only.”
Reuters on Friday reported that oil prices “settled at a three-year high above $85 a barrel, boosted by forecasts of a supply deficit in the next few months as the easing of coronavirus-related travel restrictions spurs demand.”
It added that “a sharp drop in oil stockpiles in the United States and the member countries of the Organization of Economic Co-operation and Development is expected to keep global supply tight.”
Mobil Garapan on Beach Road display its new fuel prices on Saturday.
