MHS, SIS shine in cross country 2nd qualifier

MARIANAS High School and Saipan International School took the spotlight in the second qualifier of the Public School System-Northern Marianas Athletics Cross Country on Saturday at Ladder Beach.

In the boys high school division, Grace Christian Academy’s Theodore Rodgers was the overall first place finisher clocking at 00:19:05. However, without at last three team members, GCA did not earn points.

 Marianas High School  topped the team competition, thanks to  Pony Tang (00:20:11) and teammates Marques Dame (00:20:43) and Rakib Hassan  (00:21:02).

In the girls high school division, Saipan International School also took the top three spots.

Tiana Cabrera had a stellar performance as she finished first with a time of 00:21:11.

Team-mates Serin Chung and Audrey Castro were second and third, clocking at 00:24:05 and 00:24:15.

About 10 runners from SIS completed the course while MHS was the only other team to qualify.

As for the boys middle school division, Akeen Edvalson of Saipan Community School was overall first place with a time of 00:07:02. His school, however,  did not have enough runners and did not qualify for the team competition.

Saipan International School’s Moshe Sikkel completed the course with a time of 00:10:23 followed by Saipan Community School’s Elijah Ye who clocked 00:11:26. SIS leads in the team standings.

In the girls middle school division, SCS’ Abbie Kim led the pack with a finish time of 00:13:02. However, it was SIS that topped the  team standings with Suki Peng finishing second with a time of 00:13:07 followed by teammate Aubrey White in third place with a time of 00:13:15 to put their school on top.
