VINCENT Deleon Guerrero, 34, is facing up to 10 years of imprisonment for a robbery that occurred at San Antonio Supermarket on July 9, 2025.
The Department of Public Safety issued a wanted notice on Friday, seeking the public’s assistance in locating Deleon Guerrero. By Saturday, DPS reported that he had self-surrendered.
At a press conference on Monday, DPS Commissioner Anthony Macaranas said Deleon Guerrero decided to surrender after his photo was posted on social media.
“Giving himself up is good… that’s one effective way of media coverage…when you send the information out to the people… I think whoever was associated with Deleon Guerrero convinced him to get himself in,” Macaranas said.
At a bail hearing on Monday before Superior Court Judge Joseph Camacho, Deleon Guerrero appeared in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
He was represented by Chief Public Defender Douglas Hartig, while Assistant Attorney General Frances Demapan appeared for the government.
Deleon Guerrero is charged with robbery and disturbing the peace.
He also has six pending bench warrants for failing to appear in court on June 23, 2025, in connection with six theft cases involving six business establishments.
Judge Camacho imposed $20,000 cash bail on the defendant and remanded him to the custody of Corrections. Deleon Guerrero was also ordered to return to court for a preliminary hearing on July 21 at 10 a.m. and an arraignment on July 28 at 9 a.m.
Background
According to DPS, a preliminary investigation revealed that a male suspect wearing a black hoodie and shorts entered the San Antonio Supermarket and asked to buy cigarettes and a phone card.
The suspect also asked to see a cell phone — a Samsung A16 valued at $280. As the cashier showed the phone, still in its box, the suspect took it and told the cashier to continue assisting other customers. When the cashier asked him to pay, he refused and again insisted the cashier serve the others.
The suspect then began shouting, pulled out a black pocketknife, and pointed it at the cashier and others in the store before fleeing.
After reviewing surveillance footage, DPS officers identified the suspect as Deleon Guerrero. The footage also showed him entering the passenger side of a Kia Soul with license plate number ACS 294, which then left the scene heading south. The identity of the driver remains unknown.
Deleon Guerrero has also been identified as the suspect in two other theft incidents: one at Twins Supermarket in Dandan, reported on July 8, 2025, at 2 a.m.; and another at the Mobil Chalan Kiya gas station, reported on June 29, 2025, at 11:15 a.m.
