SAIPAN Mayor David M. Apatang has nominated Henry Kyle B. Hofschneider to the Saipan Higher Education Financial Assistance board of directors.
If confirmed by the Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation, Hofschneider will serve a two-year term.
He will succeed Frank Cabrera whose term expired in June and has declined to be reappointed due to personal matters.
Apatang furnished the delegation a copy of the appointment and asked Hofschneider to submit his résumé and other pertinent documents.
No other information about the nominee was available as of press time Tuesday evening.
The delegation chairman, Senate Floor Leader Vinnie F. Sablan, received the nomination on Monday, Aug. 9, 2021.
During the delegation’s session on Tuesday, Rep. John Paul Sablan said they have 30 days from receipt of the appointment letter to act on it.
He urged the delegation chairman to refer the appointment to the delegation’s Judiciary and Governmental Operations Committee so that the confirmation process can proceed as soon as possible.
The delegation chairman has referred the appointment to the JGO committee, which is chaired by Sen. Edith Deleon Guerrero.
