THE House of Representatives on Monday presented to the state committee and volunteers of the Guam-CNMI Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve a framed copy of House Joint Resolution 22-9 which recognizes and acknowledges their “exceptional service and commitment to servicemen and women.”
Rep. Vicente Camacho read the resolution before handing it to Guam-CNMI area chair Rita A. Sablan, Ed.D., ombudsman Joann T. Aquino, and chair emeritus and employer outreach coordinator Rose Igitol.
H.J.R. 22-9 was adopted by the House on Aug. 3, 2021.
In her remarks, Sablan said as the CNMI celebrates ESGR Week this year, “not only do we recognize the volunteers for the work that they do in the community, but we are also very pleased and honored to always have employers out there supporting the Guard and Reserve who are always ready to perform military service. It’s a great sacrifice on their part and their families whenever they fulfill their military obligations which sometimes can last a year.”
In celebrating ESGR Week, she said “we are also recognizing the employers who value the work and efforts of servicemembers.”
ESGR is a Department of Defense program established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve component service members and their civilian employers, and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employees’ military commitment.
On Friday, Aug. 13, President Joe Biden signed a proclamation designating Aug. 15 through 21 as National Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Week.
Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Guam-CNMI area chair Rita A. Sablan receives a framed copy of House Joint Resolution 22-9 from its author, Rep. Vicente Camacho on Monday.
