THE 22nd CNMI Legislature and the Youth Congress mourn the passing of Rep. Ivan Alafanso Blanco.
The House Republican leader passed away early afternoon on Friday after attending a Developmental Disability Council meeting at the Aqua Resort.
In separate statements, the Legislature and the Youth Congress also expressed condolences to Blanco’s wife, Carmen, their children, and their entire family.
In a joint statement, the members of the 22nd CNMI Legislature said on behalf of Speaker Edmund S. Villagomez and Senate President Jude U. Hofschneider, they are extending their thoughts and prayers to the Blanco family during this painful time.
The lawmakers said Blanco’s knowledge of regional affairs greatly assisted his colleagues in fostering working relationships with many different jurisdictions throughout Micronesia.
On behalf of the 18th Youth Congress and Youth Speaker Cielo Citlalli G. Long, acting Youth Speaker Liekeila’akata Iakopo issued this statement: “We join the members of the Legislature, Representative Blanco’s staff and his constituents in mourning the passing of a beloved colleague, team leader and statesman, and our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Carmen, and their children Lili, +Pierre, Ivan Jr., Kideichi and Paige during this difficult time.”
