The Friends of the Arts to stage ‘One Act Plays’

(FOA) — The Friends of the Art’s production of “One Act Plays” starts this Wednesday, Aug. 11. These humorous and thought-provoking plays, written by David Ives, will be performed Wednesday and Thursday of this week, Aug. 11 and 12. (Not Thursday and Friday as earlier stated.)  “One Act Plays,” suitable for adults and youth of all ages, is directed by Harold Easton for this Friends of the Arts production.

Ives  has been writing plays since the 1970s and achieved his breakthrough success in the 1990s with an evening of one-act plays called “All in the Timing” which ran Off-Broadway for over six hundred performances. He has written many full-length plays, including the Broadway production “Venus in Fur.”

According to the play’s director, “Ives makes one think. His plays are like a puzzle — just what is he getting at — and when you think you have figured it out, you discover a different direction to travel. He provides us with so many puzzles to choose from.”  Can you solve the puzzles. Come and find out!

The play will be presented at the Garapan Central Park Roundhouse Theater.  Both show dates will start at 7 p.m.  Tickets prices for all four shows start at $3 for students and $5 for adults.  You may purchase tickets from members of the play’s cast and at the door or reserve seats/tickets through Frank Gibson at flgibson@yahoo.com

All members of the community are invited to attend, bring their family and friends, and enjoy the show. The Friends of the Arts would like to offer special thanks to its sponsors and to the Division of Parks and Recreation for their support.

The Friends of the Arts is your local community theater organization that promotes performing arts through hosting several plays each year. For more information or to make ticket reservations email Frank Gibson at flgibson@yahoo.com
