WITH just a few days until its herd immunity target date, the CNMI may not have at least 80% of its eligible population fully vaccinated by then, Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. Chief Executive Officer Esther L. Muna said.
However, at least 80% of its eligible adult population, or those 18 years of age or older, will be vaccinated, she added.
“It’s still promising because people are still walking in [and] getting their vaccines on a daily basis. We’re still seeing a large number of individuals getting their first shot,” she said.
As of Monday, 76.5% of the eligible CNMI population, or 32,419 individuals, had been fully vaccinated.
The CNMI needs 1,491 more people to get fully vaccinated in order to reach its 80% herd immunity goal.
Road to 80
The “Road to 80” CNMI Covid-19 vaccination campaign continues, making a trip to Rota last weekend.
Rota residents had an opportunity to receive $20 after receiving their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Rota Health Center.
For Rota alone, special raffles for a $500, two $250, and five $100 cash prizes were also held.
Bernie Fujihira, a teacher at Dr. Rita Hocog Inos Jr./Sr. High School, was randomly selected as the $500 cash prize winner and was given her prize on Friday.
“Road to 80” campaign spokesperson Brad Ruszala was joined by Rota Mayor Efraim Atalig on Friday at the Pizzaria Bar & Grill for the spinning of the digital wheel to randomly select the remaining cash prize winners.
Don Ogo, Vicente Atalig Jr., George Bisala, Delia Marie Barcinas, and Vincent Manglona each won $100 in cash.
Ed Marvin Maligson and Don Smith each won $250 in cash.
In addition, the campaign held its weekly Friday raffle for the vaccinated in the CNMI, this time giving away $3,500.
The “Road to 80” Covid-19 vaccination campaign was launched earlier last month and will run until this Saturday in an effort to reach 80% herd immunity in the Commonwealth’s fight against the global Covid-19 pandemic.
There have been weekly drawings every Friday at 5 p.m. for cash prizes.
Beginning Friday, July 16, 2021, weekly winners were chosen at random to bring home these cash prizes: $1,000 for the first week; $1,500 for the second; $2,000 for the third; $2,500 for the fourth; $3,000 for the fifth; $3,500 for the sixth; and $4,000 for the seventh and final week.
The weekly Friday drawings are open for those who are fully vaccinated or registered to be fully vaccinated by 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 27, 2021.
Individuals who have already been vaccinated in the CNMI are automatically entered in the raffle.
Winners will be contacted by phone and email using the information provided on https://www.vaccinatecnmi.com
To claim their prizes, winners will need to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated.
If a winner does not respond within 72 hours of the first time they were contacted, a new winner will be chosen.
Additionally, grand drawing winners will be announced at the Taste of the Marianas main stage on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021.
Grand drawing prizes include a $2,500 “bonus draw,” a $5,000 “mini-grand” prize, a $15,000 “grand prize,” and a 2020 Nissan Rogue Sport compact crossover.
In-kind prizes, such as $500 worth of cards from McDonald’s of Saipan, $500 worth of gas cards from Mobil, as well as a Samsung S20 with two months of free service from IT&E, will also be raffled.
The campaign received an additional $5,000 contribution from the administration and will be restructuring its raffles to give out more prizes.
