SOUTHERN United Football Club and Paire Football Club remain on top of their respective divisions in the Women’s League Summer 2021 after scoring victories last week at the NMI Soccer Training Center.
In the Premier Division, Southern United earned their third win by overpowering Shirley’s Football Club Team B, 14-2.
SUFC was simply unmatched as they unleashed a barrage of shots in the first half.
Three minutes into the game, the team found their first goal thanks to Nathanette Blas. Their second goal was delivered by Stephanie Flores a minute later while team-mate Jannah Casarino made it 3-0 in the 12th minute.
Although Shirley’s Team B fought back with Francesca Bucalig draining her team’s first goal in the 14th minute, they still had a lot of work to do as SUFC launched another offensive that allowed Britany Wally and Marinel Falalimpa to score a goal each and widen their team’s lead to 5-1 by halftime.
In the second half, SUFC scored nine more goals with Keisha Deleon Guerrero leading the run after completing a hat-trick while team-mates Allyssya Angeles and Blas scored two goals apiece.
Facing defeat, Shirley’s Team B scored one more goal courtesy of Bucalig before calling it a day. SUFC won, 14-2.
In the other Premier Division game, Shirley’s Team A performed steadily with Bernadette Horey sinking a goal in the 1st minute and Mae Ito in the 59th to silence Kanoa Football Club, 2-0.
Intermediate Division
Paire Football Club collected their fourth win by blanking MP United Football Club, 3-0.
After a scoreless first set, Paire started to heat up as they opened several shot opportunities. After countless attempts, they were finally rewarded with a goal in the 26th minute, thanks to Lindsay Davis.
MPU struggled offensively and defensively while Paire squeezed in two more goals in the third and final set led by Natalie Hill-Beyer and Davis to seal the deal, 3-0.
Kanoa Football Club also joined the winner’s circle after outscoring Southern United Football Club 3-1.
Kanoa managed to hold down SUFC and turn each successful stop into an offensive push.
Kanoa’s Marie Aldan scored in the 13th minute of the first set while team-mate Arriane Antonio delivered her goal at the 29th minute mark in the second set.
In the third set, SUFC finally broke through the defensive walls with Erin Frink finding the back of the net at the 35th minute mark, but that would be her team’s only highlight as Kanoa’s Kimberly White connected her team’s third goal in the 41st minute to clinch victory, 3-1.
Kanoa’s Merlie Tolentino chases Southern United’s Angel Roligat for the possession of the ball during an Intermediate Division game of the Women’s League Summer 2021 at the NMI Soccer Training Center.
