TRISTAN Lance V. Muna, 25, was charged with disturbing the peace, domestic violence, assault, assault and battery, interfering with a domestic violence report, and kidnapping.
Through his attorney Robert T. Torres, the defendant waived his preliminary hearing.
Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo allowed Muna to post 10% of his initial $10,000 bail and placed him under house arrest after he was released to his mother as third-party custodian on July 22.
Muna is scheduled to appear before Presiding Judge Roberto C. Naraja on Aug. 2 at 9 a.m. for an arraignment.
According to police, Muna attempted to drive off Suicide Cliff in his car after he felt bad for beating up his girlfriend.
Muna’s girlfriend reported the assault incident to police on July 15 after receiving a voice message from Muna via WhatsApp stating that he was going to end his life.
After receiving the call from Muna’s girlfriend, the Department of Public Safety notified all police units that the defendant was suicidal.
At 11:48 p.m., he was found at Suicide Cliff where he tried to drive his vehicle off the cliff.
But he failed to run off the cliff as the place had been barricaded, police said.
