BESIDES the continuing discussion between Imperial Pacific International LLC and the U.S. Department of Labor regarding the resolution of the issue over the additional amount owed to IPI’s employees, attorney Michael Dotts told the federal court there is nothing new to report.
In IPI’s 28th status report to the District Court of the NMI, Dotts said no payroll was due during the reporting period of July 20 to July 26, 2021.
“IPI’s next payroll is due on July 30, (Payroll 16),” he said.
There were also no settlement payments due during the reporting period, Dotts added.
“The next settlement payment is due on August 1. This is a Sunday and IPI may pay this settlement payment on Monday, August 2,” according to the report.
As for employee housing, food and repatriation, Dotts said there is also nothing new to report.
Construction work at the Imperial Pacific Resort in Garapan remains suspended as ordered by the court, he added.
As part of the amended judgment entered between IPI and the U.S. Department of Labor on March 29, 2021, the Saipan casino investor is required to file weekly status updates regarding its progress in purging contempt and paying for the remaining amounts in the initial consent judgement.
IPI was ordered to make monthly payments of $164,270.08 from April 1, 2021 to Dec. 1, 2021, for a total amount of $1,478,430.72.
To date, IPI has paid a total of $657,080.32, from January to July 2021.
