WE survived the 2008 global financial crisis because U.S. taxpayers bailed out the bankers. Today, Covid-19 and its variants are still spreading all over the world and there’s a need to build homes for the poor and homeless families. This can be and should be done with the use of federal funds.
What the federal government should also do is to designate financial inspectors to make sure that U.S. federal grants are used wisely and not squandered by the corrupt.
Conflict of interest is the very reason we need to protect our U.S. investments globally. It’s not right to let China or Russia get ahead of the U.S. in terms of technology or infrastructure. We must remain the most digitally advanced country.
The U.S. president is correct to insist on rebuilding America’s infrastructure, city by city, county by county, village by village.
The CNMI is on the American frontline. Let’s use our U.S. military to guard our fishing perimeters. We have the biggest U.S. fishing ground because we are in the Pacific.
The Northern Islands can become tourist destinations and should welcome green investors from the U.S.
My Dad used to fish weeks and months up there in the Northern Islands, and he provided food to our families on Saipan.
But today some of us would rather live on food stamps. We are much better off moving our bodies. We cannot give up on our traditional and cultural activities.
In my senior year at MHS, my teacher Mr. Masters explained to us the importance of the U.S. and CNMI Constitutions. He also told us that we must always defend the U.S. and CNMI Constitutions.
Our parents sent us to college to get a degree and come home and help improve our people’s lives. Party-hardy on the federal dollars is not who we are. We are better than that.
Because our ancestors’ remains were disrespected by the construction of the Saipan casino, a super typhoon, Yutu, devastated our islands.
You guys have to respect our powerful ancestors today and every day.
My wife left China to seek peace, liberty and a better paying job on Saipan. She married a U.S. Carolinian journalist. But when we moved to Oregon, the state health authorities took her away from me.
If my Dad, who was also a traditional healer, was alive today, he would say, “This is wrong and unacceptable in the eyes of God.”
Government and health authorities cannot abuse their power. They must uphold the law and not violate it.
As a journalist from Saipan USA, who else can better hammer the truth home? This is not cracker jack news or fake news. This is the real coconut Saipan USA news.
In closing, we all may ride a canoe but we will never lose that north star because we are the true north, guys.
Sometimes we think that we are so smart until everything blows up in our faces.
This is not the time to monkey around with the Guy upstairs. We must help address human rights and other abuses anywhere, and we must use U.S. federal dollars wisely and ethically.
Thank you President Joe Biden. Our U.S. homeland security comes first when it comes to world peace.
