Micronesia Climate Change Alliance joins nationwide movement encouraging congressional adoption of Thrive Agenda

(MCCA) — Micronesia Climate Change Alliance has launched a   letter-writing campaign addressed to U.S. Congressman Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan of the CNMI and Guam Delegate Michael FQ San Nicolas, asking them to publicly champion the Thrive Agenda.

Thrive is an acronym that stands for Transform, Heal, Renew by Investing in a Vibrant Economy, and is a rebranding of the Green New Deal.

This letter campaign will continue until April 11, 2021 and you can visit MCCA’s social media pages to sign on or go to https://forms.gle/t4udjViZ15PS7iFg8

“As Pacific Islanders we are on the frontlines of the climate crisis,” MCCA stated. “The Mariana Islands will be experiencing an increased number of typhoons and an increase in severity of storms. We are also in danger of drought,  rising sea levels, loss of coral reefs and may become hosts to climate refugees in our region. This agenda has really important implications that can help resource our islands in our efforts to increase our resilience and make progress in our region’s sustainable development goals.”
