MHS, KHS top long-distance outrigger races

MARIANAS High School and Kagman High School finished first in the  2020-2021 Public School System Interscholastic Outrigger Points Race Series’ long-distance events on Saturday, splitting the men’s and women’s divisions evenly at  Kilili Beach.

In the women’s division, the MHS Dolphins reigned supreme.  They were the quickest in the open water and worked as a team to overcome crucial turning points and finish strong, clocking at 00:56:09.02 to earn 5 points.

Coming in at 2nd place were the Ayuyus of KHS who paddled closely behind but failed to execute the final push. They came in at 00:57:14.24 and was awarded 3 points.

In third was Saipan Southern High School, clocking in at 00:58:24.83 to obtain 1 point.

Men’s division

In the men’s division, KHS took first place this time around.

The Ayuyus powered through the course and clocked 00:48:12.13 to obtain 5 points while SSHS followed behind with a time of 00:49:03.93, good enough for 3 points.

 MHS was third, clocking in at 00:49:19.38 to receive a point.
