MOMMY Charu is still rising in the team standings of the Belau Amateur Softball League after securing its fifth win by dominating the IPI Masters, 32-13, Sunday at the Dandan baseball field.
It started as a fairly even match with neither team wanting to give away control.
The IPI Masters opened the top of the first inning with three runs when Dave clipped a single home run followed by a two-run homer by John P. to give the IPI Masters a 3-0 lead after four players at bat.
But Mommy Charu equalized in the team’s first go on offense thanks to Benji F.’s single that brought in Derek and Kalle while Leo stole home off an IPI Masters’ error to tie the game, 3-3.
Mommy Charu then snatched control in the bottom of the second inning with four runs including a two-run home run followed by an RBI single by Kalle and another run off an error.
The IPI Masters broke their silence in the third inning with a home run courtesy of Jack for two RBIs. Hector then reached home safely due to a fielder’s choice for the second deadlock of the day, 7-7.
Mommy Charu’s players resumed their offensive with four more runs in the bottom of the third.
The IPI Masters scored four runs in the next inning but Mommy Charu quickly notched four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to grasp the lead for the third time, 15-11.
The IPI Masters failed to score in the top of the fifth which gave Mommy Charu’s players a chance to extend the gap as they added four more runs led by Barrie who nailed an RBI double.
Even with the IPI Masters recovering with two runs, Mommy Charu ended the game with a bang by bringing in 13 runs in just the sixth inning alone as Kuich and Joe each drained three-run home runs to claim an emphatic 32-13 victory.
