MRA takes part in Earth-wide cleanup

(MRA) — On April 24, members of the Marianas Racing Association took part in an “Earth-wide” cleanup campaign as part of Environmental Awareness Month.

Club members trotted from  Cow Town Raceway Park to the Marpi landfill, picking up trash and debris along the way.

The 25 MRA members who joined  the early morning walk  broke off into several teams and were able to retrieve about 200 pounds of garbage along the roadside and several yards deep into the jungle.

MRA president Charles Cepeda said he was happy about the turnout as he commended the group for a job well done.

He also encourages everyone in the CNMI to do their part in keeping the islands clean by reporting illegal dumping and littering to the authorities.

After the cleanup, the MRA members headed back to Cow Town Raceway Park to set up tires and barricades in their new pit area and around the track.

Cepeda, along with MRA track marshal and race facilitator Bridget Camacho, scheduled the cleanup before the round 4 race that was held on Sunday, April 25.

Race fans and everyone else were welcomed  to a nice, clean and beautified road and track on race day.
