THE Paire Football Club Team 1 is still at the top of the standings in the Masters Division of the Dove Women’s League Spring 2021 after beating the TanHoldings Football Club, 4-1, Sunday at the NMI Soccer Training Center’s mini-pitch. It was Paire’s third straight win in the tournament.
In a battle between offense and defense, Paire controlled the pace with constant attacks, gradually overcoming TanHoldings.
After nine minutes of back and forth action, Paire finally broke the defensive wall with Lindsay Davis firing the first goal to give her team the lead.
The goal acted as a spark plug for the rest of the Paire players as they kept up the pressure and opened up another opportunity for Davis to strike at the 13th minute mark to stretch the gap 2-0.
TanHoldings then reassessed its strategy and started to focus more on turning the tide. Although the Paire players did a great job protecting their end of the field, TanHoldings was able to wore them down with persistency. During the scramble to protect the ball, Paire accidentally scored in its own goal to hand TanHoldings a point.
Down by a point, TanHoldings tried to even the score while Paire continued to press, forcing TanHoldings to focus on defense.
At the 26th minute mark, Paire connected its third goal courtesy of Natalie Hill-Beyer.
The TanHoldings players did their best to stay alive but they accidentally scored in their own goal to give Paire a 4-1 victory.
Matansa vs Kanoa
Matansa joined the celebration after it collected its very first win of the season by besting the Kanoa Football Club, 3-0.
It was a slow-paced game at first as neither team could find a clear shot for the first 15 minutes.
Matansa then broke the ice at the 17th mark as Bunruang Brasuell, who was left unguarded, squeezed in a shot through Kanoa’s goalie to give Matansa the lead, 1-0.
Kanoa made some adjustments and successfully kept Matansa away for most of the second half.
However, during the last 10 minutes of the game, the Matansa players found their second wind and added two more goals: Wasana Gregory at the 43rd minute mark and Brasuell at the 47th to lock in the win, 3-0.
