Man struck by car in critical condition

A 59-year-old man crossing Beach Road from the Moonlight store was struck by a sedan on Tuesday evening, according to the Department of Public Safety.

Assistant Chief of Police Simon Manacop said the injured man was transported to the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation by Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services responders. The man remained conscious but in critical condition.

On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 8:58 p.m., police officers came across a Toyota sedan parked in the outer southbound lane of Beach Road, in front of the Moonlight store in Chalan Kanoa.

“They then learned that an auto-pedestrian crash had just occurred. A sedan, operated by a 61-year-old male, was observed with major damage to its front right side, and an injured male was discovered to have been struck by the vehicle,” Manacop said.

He added, “There were no indications that the operator of the vehicle or the pedestrian were under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Road conditions may have been a factor due to low lighting and wet pavement from the rain.”

The case remains under investigation.

DPS also told Variety that Tuesday’s incident is the fifth auto-pedestrian case in 2025, two of which have involved serious injuries.

In March, a 56-year-old female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Beach Road in Chalan Laulau, near Pacific Outlet, where she sustained injuries such as abrasions.
