The Kagman Sparks recently suffered a second upset handed to them by the G-Stars and the first one by the Sonics but they are still holding the second top seat in the entire league.
The Sparks entered the first ten minutes of the game strong and ready to play basketball. Sahj Hossain collared 5 points to start the Sparks’ winning rally while his efforts were strongly followed up by teammate Ichitaro Faisao who collared 3 points for the Sparks. Team Hi-5 was only able to score a total of 9 points in the entire ten minutes of the game.
By the end of the quarter the Sparks were able to manage a strong 5 point lead over Hi-5 after team player Eugene Manglona sealed the quarter with a jump shot to lift the Sparks up, 14-9.
Both teams entered the second quarter of the game fiercely. Team Hi-5 stepped it up a volt and team player Gary Macanito scored a whopping 7 points while teammate Lawrence Rollon fended off another 6 points in their herculean effort to repair the damage made in the first quarter.
Hossain and Faisao were able to slip past the defenses of Hi-5 twice each consecutively to bag 4 points a head in the last minutes of the second quarter. Although Hi-5 snipped the gap the Sparks were able to uphold a three point lead over them.
By half time the Sparks gripped the upper hand of the game by three points, 27-24.
Fatigue and nervousness got the better part of team Hi-5 upon entering the second half of the bout. Lone star Ariel Urbano only scored 4 points while his teammates only collared a total of 4 points as well to add up to 8. The Sparks took no time for remorse for team Hi-5 and instead took major advantage of their foe’s momentary weariness.
Together, they scored a total of 12 points to widen the existing three point gap to an amazing 7 point lead by the time the siren rang to seal the third quarter shut.
Hi-5 did not lose hope however and gave their full effort in the last quarter of the game. Team player Rollon was able to score 8 points while teammate Louiegi Iglesias bucketed 11 points. Everything was going well for team Hi-5 until the last two minutes of the game where they started getting nervous and handled the ball rather weakly.
Hi-5 fought strongly in the last two minute of the game but repeatedly fouled Sparks to give them opportunities for charity shots which they took great care in shooting.
In the end the Sparks were able to hand Hi-5 the upset of the game and firmly gripped a 12 point lead securing a 67-55 deficit to knock team Hi-5 out of the play offs.
