SHEFA wants cover of annual report replaced

SHEFA is also negotiating with Elite Printing for the replacement of the report’s cover, he added.

The current cover bears the pictures of board members who are no longer with SHEFA.

The new SHEFA board questioned this “inaccurate representation.”

In a recent meeting, the new board also deferred  action on the $2,450 printing  bill for the 200 copies of the annual report.

Instead, the board members told the SHEFA administrator to renegotiate the price and to make some changes to the report.

As soon as SHEFA and the printing firm come to an agreement, they will decide on the final layout of the cover, Hofschneider said.

The board has yet to decide whether to pay the legal services incurred by the previous chairwoman, Vice Speaker Felicidad T. Ogumoro, Covenant-Saipan.

The Law Offices of Ramon K. Quichocho billed SHEFA $1,500 for its legal opinion regarding the legitimacy of Maggie C. Camacho and Josephine T. Sablan’s board membership.

Hofschneider said he has asked the law firm to provide clarification and details regarding its transaction with SHEFA.

In related news, SHEFA last week  sent a request to the Department of Finance for the disbursement of $99,600 to 83 of  114 on-island recipients of the grant-in-aid program.

Hofschneider said they will submit a request for the checks of the 31 other students, comprising five off-island and 26 on-island recipients, as soon as Finance releases the award for the 83 scholars.

“We are still waiting for a word from Finance,” he said, adding that funding depends on the poker license fee collections.

Each student on-island will get $1,200 while those off-island will receive $2,000 each, he added.
