Last Saturday, over 20 of the group’s members from Tanapag, Gualo Rai and Koblerville joined the monthly cleanup in the area from Winchell’s going to Coral Tree Avenue, the Garapan Fire Station and ending in front of American Memorial Park.
The group collected over 300 pounds of trash. The PDM Promoters holds its monthly cleanup either on the first or the second Saturday of the month.
Sonia Siwa of PDM Inc. Promoters said some of the Awaodori team members, including those who went to Tokyo for this year’s Awaodori Festival, were accompanied by their parents.
Siwa said the project aims to help promote the importance of maintaining a clean environment and to make Garapan more tourist-friendly and attractive for everybody.
She said that if children get a first-hand experience picking up trash, they will learn to value a healthy environment.
