Letter to the Editor: Businessman

All kinds of businessmen or women would travel around the globe to introduce products and make business.

For example, business investors introduced the garment factories to the commonwealth. Our government was in favor of the garment factories because of the revenues, but no one knew that it would not last long. There were lots of problems.

And then there was this Japanese businessman who traveled to the U.S. to do business. He flew to Phoenix, Arizona.

At the airport there, the businessman took a taxicab. On the freeway he saw a speeding Japan-made car, a Nissan, so he tapped the taxi driver’s shoulder and said, “Look. Japan-made car. Very fast.” When they arrived at the businessman’s destination (it was a 10-mile drive), he asked the driver how much the fare was. The driver said it was $150. The businessman said: “Oh, very expensive.” The driver replied, “Yeah, the taximeter was made in Japan. Very fast.”

My brothers and sisters, I believe the taxicab driver had a point.
