Helen C. Sablan, CNMI Medicaid program administrator, yesterday said the program paid $2,132,641.38 to the Commonwealth Health Center, and $10,824,989.82 to local providers.

Payments made to off-island providers included $262,556.06 for Guam providers, and $1,851,693.89 for providers in Honolulu and San Diego.

Sablan said for fiscal year 2010, the CNMI Medicaid program had a total of 14,700 clients and four staff members to handle eligibility processing, claims review and claims processing.

Sablan said the regular Medicaid program funding for fiscal year 2010, which was $5,120,000, will increase to $5,310,000 in FY 2011.

Funding for the Medicaid Program under the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act program will be reduced from  $1,536,000 this year to  $398,000 in 2011.

The funding for the regular enhanced allotment plan will increase from $99,909 this year to $100,000 next year.

Funding for the State Children Health Insurance Plan will remain the same: $818,000.

Sablan said by July 1, 2011, Medicaid will receive an additional $3,035,000, and an overall funding of $97,965,000 from fiscal years 2012 to 2019.

She said the Federal Matching Assistance Plan will also increase by 5 percent in July next year. This means that from the 50/50 matching plan, federal assistance will increase to 55 percent and the CNMI’s share will be reduced to 45 percent.

First implemented in 1979, the CNMI Medicaid program is administered by the commonwealth and funded by the local and federal governments.
