With a whopping 231 points, WPS dominated the elementary division with Garapan Elementary School trailing behind with 192 points for the second place. SSHS garnered 119 points, while SCS pulled 91 in the junior high division.
Among the Whispering Palms’ lead swimmers were Troy Young, Steven Lee, Amon McGuire, and Arman Khorram who dominated in the mixed 10 to 12 200-meter freestyle relay. Jin Ju Thompson earned nine points for WPS in the girls 9U 50m butterfly event, while Melanie Choe won second in the girls’ 10 to 12 category.
GES didn’t go unnoticed when Ryuto Yanai, Lukas Kang, Taiga Sato, and Hiroto Yanai took the lead in the mixed 9-and-under 200-meter freestyle relay.
A total of four schools entered in the high school division. Following SSHS were Grace Christian Academy (18 pts) and Kagman High School (16 pts). Four schools also took part in the junior high school division, with WPS joining SCS in the top two. Saipan International School came next to WPS with 52 points, while Hopwood Junior High School earned 36.
Swimmers faced tough competition in the elementary division, which had students flooding from 10 different schools. GES darted to second place with 192 points, while SCS came third with 78. The others included Saipan International School (77), Gregorio T. Camacho School (52), William S. Reyes Elem. School (30), Tanapag Elem. School (28), Oleai Elem. School (22), GCA (22), and Dan Dan Elem. School (9).
A total of 101 students from 15 schools were present last Saturday. Saipan Swim Club thanks all schools and coaches involved, Stan Good for being a stroke and turn judge, Bobby Winkfield for being their starter, and Kan Pacific for their support.
