Manglona imposed a 90-day jail term on Jack Esiwini Sachuo, but all suspended except for the 14 days he had already served.
The court also placed Sachuo on probation for one year.
Sachuo was required to pay $170 as restitution to Jonathan Del Mundo Mendoza for repairs to his damaged car, and a letter of apology to Police Officer Catherine Pangelinan.
Manglona ordered Sachuo to stay away from Mendoza during the term of his probation, and to not have any direct or indirect contact with his victim.
Sachuo will pay a $25 court assessment fee, a $100 probation fee, perform 50 hours of community work service, t report to the Community Guidance Center for counseling evaluation, and obey all federal and CNMI laws.
The court dismissed with prejudice the remaining charges of assault and battery, and resisting arrest.
Assistant Attorney General Benjamin K. Petersburg prosecuted the case while Assistant Public Defender Douglas W. Hartig represented Sachuo.
On Aug. 20, 2010, Sachuo damaged Mendoza’s vehicle after hitting the top portion of its side door.
As responding officers were about to take custody of Sachuo who was subdued by other people in the area, the defendant struggled, managed to get loose, and hit the face of one of the officers with his swinging right arm.
