Poster contest will have 6 winners

The deadline for the poster entries was Nov. 12.

Susan Marchitti of Beach Road Magazine said  they were very happy with the artwork submitted by  students from 11 schools, including those from Tinian and Rota.

“We will be announcing three winners each from two categories — the 11 years old and under, and the 12 years and over category. The rest of the contestants will have a chance to win in the raffle draw,” Marchitti said.

The poster-making contest is based on the motto of the Public School System’s  Food and Nutritional Services: “Eat Better, Play Harder, Live Healthier, Learn Easier — Wellness is a Way of Life!”

Students were invited to submit artwork on an 11 x 17 paper using colored pencils, felt pens, crayons, paint, chalk or watercolors.

Judges for the poster making contest are Jacky Van Dam of Gold’s Gym, Bob Coldeen of KSPN 2, DPS acting Fire Director Capt. John Pua, CNMI Museum Executive Director and local artist Robert Hunter, and PSS nutritionist Hae Jae Lee.

Marchitti said the entries will be judged based on originality, content, and impact/appearance.

All the entries will be displayed at the 2010 Health and Wellness Fair.  For more information, call 235-7645 or 483-3145 and ask for Susan Marchitti.
