The toy drive for children 2 to 8 years old is organized by Luta Cares volunteers on Saipan and Guam.
Luta Cares founder Julie Ogo-Manglona stated on the organization’s website that used or new toys will be accepted until Dec. 15 to provide enough time for wrapping them.
Due to harsh economic situation in the CNMI, the group said parents may find it hard to allocate a budget for Christmas shopping.
The group has asked local vendors to reserve toys for those who want to send donations and save on shipping costs. You can donate stuffed toys, school packs, doll collections by purchasing online from http://www.lutacares.org/Shop-Toys-for-Tots.html and paying for them via Paypal or with credit cards.
“Please share the gift of giving. This holiday season is a true test of this virtue. Let’s spread the word and demonstrate our tenacity to overcome hardships as one community,” the volunteers said.
