Library Friends plan another book sale

Library Friends, which became a registered organization in 2002, has helped the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library in different ways, including applying for a grant that built the Children of Our Homeland Library.

For their next book sale, Library Friends president Maureen Sebangiol said “our goal is to sell most of our books in order to make profit for the library.”

She added, “We recently held a book sale and we did pretty well. We sold about 1,200 books and videos and made a profit of about $600.”

The books that will be for sale are mainly donations from the public and some of the extra copies the library has on its shelves.

Erlinda Naputi, Friends of the Library liaison, said there are still a fair amount of boxes that need to be unpacked and sorted out.

“We currently have an estimated 2,000 books on the shelves that are ready for the book sale and there are still a few more boxes that still need to be sorted out by genre,” she told the Variety.

Donations will always be accepted.

The book sale  on Dec. 11 will be held at the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library from 7 a.m. to 12 noon. Prices range from  a quarter to a dollar per item.

“If anyone wants to donate a book to the Friends of the Library organization, just come to  Joeten-Kiyu library and ask the librarians for assistance,” Sebangiol said.

The Library Friends are also looking for more active members to join the organization which provides assistance and support to the public library.
