PVA to hold cookout competition on tourism week

“The PVA hopes that this year’s theme will strengthen our effort to instill the awareness that we are responsible for the well-being of our environment, our home, and the core of our tourism industry,” Melson Miko, PVA Community/Support Services Manager, said.

As a traditional signature of TAW, a Rock Island Iron Chef Contest (RIIC) will be held in the late afternoon of Nov. 19. The event will start from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Bethlehem Park.

Miko said RIIC is an opportunity for chefs of business establishments and amateurs to showcase their cooking styles and abilities in a cookout competition.

The RIIC has two categories, the professional category for business establishments and amateur category for non-business establishments (individuals).

The main course or ingredient for this year’s Chef Contest is the grouper fish and bumpkin, which will be provided by the PVA.

Miko said filling up of the registration form for the interested participants is set no later than Friday, Nov. 12 at the PVA office.

Aside from the RIIC, other activities on Nov. 19 are Palauan Night Market which starts from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and the PVA theme song contest.

The theme song contest will be held simultaneously with the Palauan Night Market. For the category of the theme song contest, interested participants can call at the PVA office no later than Nov. 5.
