Interior OKs reprogramming of $400K for Tinian harbor repairs

Assistant Interior Secretary  Anthony M. Babauta signed the grant award yesterday during the economic development forum at the Fiesta Resort & Spa.

He also signed a $220,000 grant award for the improvement of the Commonwealth Health Center and the health centers on Rota and Tinian.

The award letter from Interior states that upon review of the redirection request the CNMI government submitted earlier, it can utilize $400,000 of the funding allocated to the Tinian airport instrument landing system project for emergency repairs to the Tinian harbor’s fuel dock.

The harbor emergency repair will ensure that fuel delivery is not interrupted, especially during rainy weather conditions.

The $220,000 award through Interior’s technical assistance program will provide funding for revenue cycle improvements at CHC, the Rota Health Center and the Tinian Health Center.

“I look forward to the successful completion of these much-needed repairs,” Babauta said.
