She is an excellent teacher, providing a positive learning environment for students to succeed. Ms. Saures is very proficient in lesson planning, incorporating activities for all types of learners. Additionally, she has no difficulty in meeting the standards and benchmarks as outlined by the CNMI Public School System. Her classroom management skills are exceptional, empowering students to take responsibility for their actions.
Ms. Saures is an asset to the Marianas High School faculty. She volunteers many extra hours to help write, develop and align the Mathematics curriculum, to write grants for materials needed in the classroom, and to assist on the review committee for the CNMI Standards Based Assessment. She is a team player, who can be relied upon to assist whenever needed — whether as a PSS Learning Community member, class advisor, or after-school tutor. Ms. Saures is one of those rare teachers, whose qualities and contributions can never be measured. Her dedication and commitment to our school are exceptional. Teacher Aide of the Year: Mr. Dominic Fitial
Mr. Dominic has worked with MHS for over 5 years as a Teacher Aide. His daily routine and expertise are valued here at the school level as he extends his home visits and communication skills in the local language to our parents in various ways to meet the communication barrier and ensure that students in the Special Education Department. During the summer, he extends his hours by attending school summer programs. He always gets the job done with a smile on his face. Every day he deals with a variety of students with one or multiple disabilities. His attitude is outgoing and even the students love his positive personality. Some say it takes a village to raise a child but more importantly it takes one good teacher aide to work with all types of students who can provide them with basics through extensive time and dedication. Counselor of the Year: Ms. Hazel Tudela
As you may know, the CNMI is short with expertise from our counseling support and community guidance agencies. It is not a secret that it is hard to find a really great and outstanding counselor to do their job duties and others related while at the same time meeting the school needs in this 21st Century.
Ms. Hazel is a dedicated Counselor who is visible and eager to serve our CNMI students. As a Certified Counselor she is resourceful, hard working, and very special. Ms. Hazel is very creative, dynamic and talented when it comes down to finding the things she needs to complete her basic assignments as a counselor. Outside her office, you will find Ms. Hazel assisting in various school and community related activities and events such as: AP, PSAT, KUDORS, SAT, SBA, Counseling Reform and Networking Workshops, and more. In many occasions, many witness her leadership skills by facilitating numerous professional development trainings and or co-present numerous inter-island presentations. Ms. Hazel is well inventive when it comes to making all the CNMI Counselors network and collaborate to meet PSS mandates and projects. VP of the Year: Ms. Cherlyn Cabrera
Although Ms. Cabrera is a recent addition in administration as a Vice Principal, she has been with MHS for over 7 years. In her past experience, she was an inspirational teachers and very dynamic counselor. In addition, she taught at the junior high level for over 2 years. Ms. Cabrera’s commitment and dedication are immeasurable. She excels at everything she does, and gives 110 percent.
The MHS motto “Team Effort Towards Excellence” is evident in everything that Ms. Cabrera does. She willing goes beyond the call of duty to mentor new teachers and counselors, to assist with school activities, to be a member of the MHS Accreditation team, and more. Not only is Ms. Cabrera involved at MHS, but throughout the PSS family. Her love and passion for learning and assisting students shine through her eyes. Ms. Cabrera you are awesome! Administrative Staff of the Year: Mr. Ricardo Enriquez
Mr. Ricardo does many assignments related to all bodies in this school. He deals with the daily attendance and communicates with the parents with regards to all student concerns, requests, and discipline referrals to the Student Services Office. After seeing all that he does to make our jobs better at the school level he also reaches out to the community and other agencies to make possible our PO’s, and other equipment requests possible. He also assists all teachers and staff with requests for classroom and community events on the weekends. He goes beyond his hours to ensure that each daily assignments are complete and ready for the next day before he leaves each day.
Mr. Enriquez is hard working, flexible, and willing to learn hands on with his computer skills with Rediker and Microsoft Office. Making sure the daily operations with our vans, key access to classrooms, conferences, and other student drop off and pick up related are complete and ready communicated to those who need to go on field trips or who are entering/exiting MHS daily. Trades & Maintenance of the Year: Mr. Emory Fitial
Mr. Emory works hard every day to ensure that tasks are complete and our school custodian and maintenance supplies and materials are available to complete daily job assignments. Mr. Emory also assists and facilitates extensive hours to ensure that all labor demands are complete with his support and dedication. He is a team player and very flexible when given various job roles and assignments for the day. He takes his job seriously and works hard to find resourceful ways to make the challenge fun but fulfilled. He goes beyond the call of duty by extending his knowledge and experience with various trades such as: electrical, plumbing, mechanical, custodial, and much more!
Staff like Mr. Emory are hardworking and always ready to serve the school’s needs and mission in various strategic priorities. He completed various professional developments including: FEMA 100 & 700, Non Violent Crisis Intervention and Behavioral Management Workshop, Certificate of Appreciation for School Seisa Gakuen Cultural Exchange, and Lifetime Achievement Award since he has worked her for nearly over two decades (over 20 years).
