Swingin’ 60’s raises $120K for Red Cross

“This is really great. We raised over 10 percent more than what was raised last year, despite the recent government shutdown and other challenges,” Hirsh told the Variety yesterday.

“This just goes to show that the community still believes in the Red Cross and in what it can do to help those who are in need,” he said.

1,354  of the 2,000 tickets printed for the event were sold and over 1,200 individuals gatheread at the poolside of the Fiesta Resort & Spa on Oct. 23 to be part of the “Swinging 60’s,”  which was this year’s theme.

Hirsh said they are already thinking of next year’s theme.

This year, lucky individuals went home with various prizes from the raffle draws, treasure chests, dancing and costume contests.

“Once again, we would like to thank our sponsors and the whole community who supported the event. Expect us to return the amount that we raised during the event back to the community in form of various assistance and other projects,” Hirsh said.

Last year, the theme was “Mad Hatters” and participants who had the most unique hats went home with various prizes.
