This was what Chief Sean Stewart of the CAT 11-01 said on behalf of CAT officer-in-charge Robert Thompson, ENS, NMCBII, during the monthly meeting of the Civic Action Coordinating Committee (CACC) at the Palau Community College on Tuesday.
Stewart in an interview said they started the repair last week and they expected to finish in February.
“The current team is fixing the pad so that the next team can erect the building,” Stewart said.
Based on the Engineer’s findings, there were some deficiencies in the steel and other materials on the pad’s foundation.
The Police/Fire sub-station in Ngardmau was started by the previous team CAT- 130-01. They put up the pad or the ground and the new team CAT 11-01 continued the construction on Sept. 1.
Last month the CAT had temporarily stopped the construction of the Fire sub-station pending the certified engineer to inspect the project in place.
In an earlier interview, Thompson said, “The main reason for the temporary halt is to evaluate the work that has previously been done to the pad. The primary intent of the evaluation is to verify that the measurements and tolerances laid out in the plans and specs are in line with what was actually used by previous teams. All this is in an effort to ensure that any follow on construction at the site is of the highest standard and quality. ”
The evaluation was conducted by a certified engineer.
