In the next three years, Polack will be working with the Palau Energy Office on the European Union-funded North Pacific Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Project (North REP).
“The project aims to reduce Palau’s dependency on fossil fuels — such as diesel fuel which is used for electricity generation which can increase rapidly in price and contribute to climate change — by raising awareness and building capacity regarding the benefits of improved efficiency in the energy sector,” Polack said.
He has a Master of Science degree in Renewable Energy, and has previously worked for the United Nations and Australian, British and Vanuatu Governments.
Polack, who arrived on the island on October 22, will be working closely with Greg Decherong, Director of the Palau Energy Office, and Nyk Kloulubak, Energy Planner at the Palau Energy Office.
Polack is accompanied by his wife and two children.
