Guam Police Department spokesman A.J. Balajadia said the incident was reported at around 3:20 a.m. and that officers from the Dededo precinct responded to the scene.
The woman was driving alone in a red Toyota Corolla in the area and apparently lost control of her vehicle which went off the road and struck a concrete utility pole.
CPR was administered to the woman by medics after she was removed from the car and while she was transported to Guam Memorial Hospital’s emergency room.
GMH nursing supervisor Cely Mangrobang said medics arrived with the woman in an ambulance at 4:15 a.m. The woman was pronounced dead 10 minutes later.
GPD’s Highway Patrol has taken over the investigation and will look into the cause of the crash to determine if alcohol or speed were factors,
At the time of the accident, the roads were wet and slippery due to the inclement weather.
An autopsy was performed on the woman by medical examiner Dr. Aurelio Espinola who said she died from a skull fracture.
The identity of the woman was not disclosed pending the notification of her family members on Saipan.
