Public Health looking for 2 milk products

The inspection was conducted on Saipan, Rota and Tinian.

Deputy Secretary for Public Health John Tagabuel, who heads the Bureau of Environmental Health, was in charge of the inspection.

As of press time yesterday, Villagomez said he had not received a  report from Tagabuel.

“I know that they are inspecting all suppliers here on Saipan, Tinian and Rota to see if we have this specific recalled brand here in the CNMI,” Villagomez said in an e-mail.

In Manila, the Philippine Food and Drug Administration ordered the recall of  Sustagen Junior Milk Drink Powder Vanilla Flavor (for toddlers 1-3 years old) and Alactagrow Bibo Trio Milk Supplement.

According to a report, these milk products have fat level contents that were non-compliant with FDA standards.

But Mead Johnson, the  manufacturer, said both products are safe for consumption.

“The use or exposure to the products will not lead  to adverse health consequences. It’s just that there are changes in the past content requirement when we initially applied for the evaluation of the nutrient  content level,” Mead Johnson told the Manila press.
