Court dismisses case vs man who slapped, punched a woman

Govendo granted the motion to dismiss filed by Assistant Attorney General Shelli Neal who informed the court that the victim, Zhi Li Dong, was off-island.

Rahaman was charged with assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.

The court also ordered the release of Rahaman’s passport, and exonerated his $1,500 bail.

Detective Peter A. Aldan said at the time of the incident, Rahaman, 37, was working at Joy Marine Sports, while Dong was working at Big Boys Marines Sports.

Dong had already booked two Japanese customers when Rahaman tried to entice the tourists to try Joy Marine Sports’ services.

After Dong informed Rahaman that two Japanese were already her customers, police said Rahaman got angry, slapped Dong in the face, and punched her in the chest three times.
