You are still spending money on your foolish lawsuit. You have made a bad joke of the competitive hiring system. It is no longer the best person that gets the job. It is who voted for you who gets the job.
The Legislature is not without blame either. Remember all the pet project bills that they passed, citing further revenue as the funding source. Bad move; the projected revenue is not there to pay for your mistakes. The first rule of survival is you do not spend what you do not have. You people however just keep on spending and now you want to step on the necks of the workers to pay for your bad habits. You people have one hell of a lot of nerve.
If the people will just think back to the last election they will remember that I pleaded with you to vote with your heads and not the old party or family line. Well most of you voted the party or the family line. Stop and look where it has gotten you. For the love of God, people WAKE UP! Vote for the person that is going to work for you not themselves or some special interest group.
We have another election coming up in a few days. Please use your heads when you go to vote. I am not going to tell you who to vote for. Take a good look at the men running, how they live their lives, what they have accomplished for the people of the island. When you meet him between elections does he take the time to talk to you and listen to what you have to say, or is he too important to waste his time talking to you? There really is just one choice. He is in office now.
Okay how do we get out of this mess? A recall of the governor would be a good start. But the only long term solution is to change your voting habits. To the people who are talking about running a recall on the governor, when you get your petition ready please give me a call and I will be proud to sign it.
There are a lot of educated young people that are living in the states; let’s get them back out here and get them in office. But make it clear to them that we expect them to work for the good of the island, not themselves.
The next thing to do is to force the Legislature to put an initiative on the ballot for an elected AG. The present system is a bad joke. The AG works for the governor. How do you expect him to stand up and tell the governor he is wrong? Not going to happen. Just look at what is going on right now. The AG has hired a lawyer to defend him, using taxpayer money. Why should they use OUR money to defend him, when what he did had nothing to do with the operation of his duties? If he was being sued for a decision that he made in the performance of his duties I could maybe see him using taxpayer money for his defense. What the AG did was a pure and simple political act. He should have to pay for his own defense. But the governor authorized him to use OUR money. I wonder why.
Think about it people. Then stand up and be counted. It is that or just kiss your future and the future of your family goodbye.
