Felix Francisco leads in special election

According to the Palau Election Commission (PEC) unofficial result, Francisco got 137 votes against three other contenders. John “Juan” Wong has 132 votes; Bisayang Ush Luii, 113 votes; and Mathias “Tiko” Smus 71 votes. There was one write-in candidate and two were blanks.

PEC election officer III Festus Ringang said the result will be certified next week. Five days after the election.

Ngerbeched hamlet has 872 registered voters but only 462 cast their votes.

On Sept 6 the PEC held special election in Ngerbeched to fill in the vacant seat of the 9th Koror State Legislature left by Timothy “Tero” Uehara who passed away in July.

The election was conducted at the Ngedechibel Bai.

Meanwhile in Ngarchelong State Gov. Browny Salvador still leading against his opponent Lorenzo Ngiramolau.

Based on the PEC latest unofficial result including the absentee votes, Salvador got 342 votes while Ngiramalau has 219 votes.

For the eight legislature seats representing the State’s eight hamlets, Abraham Osima got 83 votes; Kyoko April, 60 votes; Immanuel Maldangesang, 49 votes; Caleb Tekriu, 48 votes; Ngirablau K. Sambal, 30 votes; Aderiano Noah, 23 votes; Dwight Ngirchemat, 23 votes; Allen Kangichi, 18 votes and Dorothy Kuroda 9 votes.

Ringang said that since the hamlet of Ngriil has tie candidates Noah and Ngirchemat who both got 23 votes a special election will be held on Sept. 30.
