SIS beats CCA for semis ticket

The game ended quickly when SIS Team A finished CCA in the second set. SIS’ Josh Borja led the team as he pummeled the Sharks with spikes. CCA’s Francis Fidelino tried to stop him at the net, but was outsized. Borja’s kills boosted the team by six points, leaving the Sharks eight points behind.

At the Geckos’ back row, Amber Roberts tries to help Zoe Jewell with some sets.

The Sharks began focusing on the defense, as Rachel Masga partnered up with Jermaine Perez to strike some kills. The two crossed a roadblock as Borja continued his onslaught of spikes.

Along with Borja were Tae Han Yoon and Clay McCullough, whose heights gave them the edge at the net.

Both teams started evenly in the first set, until the Sharks lost momentum. Jewell kept the Geckos alive as she dove for the ball, passing it to Yoon.

SIS is scheduled to face Marianas Baptist Academy on Thursday. Jeane Bracken, Celine Camacho, Shanne Jones, Joon Seoung Lee, Emma McCullough, Andrew Nutting, Amber Roberts, and Jessica Soll make up the rest of the Geckos’ team.

Grace Christian Academy awaits the winning team for Friday’s championship round.
