Faustino Kodil Takeshi, 48, was sentenced to two years imprisonment, all suspended except for 30 days, with credit for the 12 days he had served at the Department of Corrections facility.
Takeshi asked for the court’s forgiveness.
He said prior to the incident last month, he arrived at his home without eating for the whole day and drank two cans of beer.
He said his blood pressure “shot up.”
Naraja told Takeshi to take care of his health condition and remanded him to the custody of the Department Corrections where he will serve the 18-day remainder of his sentence.
Upon release from prison, Takeshi will be placed on two years supervised probation.
Takeshi will also write a letter of apology to his wife and three children.
Naraja told Takeshi to send a Christmas card to his family.
Takeshi said he would give flowers to his family.
He will complete 100 hours of community work service, undergo and complete anger management counseling, pay a $25 court assessment fee and a $200 probation fee.
Assistant Attorney General Shelli Neal was the prosecutor while Assistant Public Defender Adam Miles served as Takeshi’s counsel.
Takeshi was arrested by Rota police after his daughter, a minor, called 911.
Takeshi beat up his wife, police said.
