$20,000 bail imposed on ‘ice’ defendant

Wiseman found probable cause to justify the arrest of Demapan, 30, who has been charged in an earlier  “ice” case.

Demapan was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections after his hearing on Monday afternoon.

Assistant Attorney General Brian D. Gallagher represented the government while Chief Public Defender Adam Hardwicke served as Demapan’s counsel.

Police said Demapan was arrested for possession of “ice” while walking late at night in violation of his pretrial release conditions.

The Attorney General’s Office charged Demapan with illegal possession of “ice” on July 16, 2010.

He was scheduled to appear in court for his change of plea hearing on Nov. 3, 2010. Demapan was supposed to observe a daily curfew from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

He  was on pretrial release after he issued $20,000 in property bond.

Prior to his arrest, Demapan was released to his common-law wife as his third party custodian.
