Leon Guerrero gets 30 days for illegal possession of ‘ice,’ marijuana

Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo said Leon Guerrero will be released from the Department of Corrections facility on Oct. 6.

Leon Guerrero, 47, was sentenced to a 30-day jail term with credit for the seven days he had already served.

Leon Guerrero, through his counsel Chief Public Defender Adam Hardwicke, and Assistant Attorney General Shelli Neal, the prosecutor, informed the court that they had reached a non-trial disposition of the case, based on a negotiated plea agreement.

The Attorney General’s Office charged Leon Guerrero with two counts of illegal possession of controlled substance.

On Feb. 23, 2010, Leon Guerrero yielded “ice” and marijuana when he was arrested after being stopped by police in Chalan Kanoa.

Leon Guerrero told police that he had been smoking “ice” for 26 years.

After his release from prison, he will be placed on probation for six months.

Leon Guerrero was required to pay $25 court assessment fee within 30 days, a probation fee to be determined by the Adult Probation Office, and all mandatory fines and fees imposed by the court.

Leon Guerrero will undergo counseling at the Community Guidance Center for substance and alcohol abuse.

“If at any point in time the counselor recommends additional therapy or treatment, [Leon Guerrero] shall undergo said treatment or therapy,” the court said.
