Going head to head in the main event are Trench Tech’s Giovanni “Palakse” Sablan and Guam’s Cody “The Knuckle Head” Cruz, representing team Under World Xtreme. Sablan boasts a record of 17 wins and five losses, while Cruz has three wins and one loss.
The night will include a ‘USA vs. Japan super fight’ between American Kick Boxing Academy’s JJ Ambrose and PureBred Japan’s Masakazu Taguchi. Ambrose, appearing in The Ultimate Fighter season 12, holds a record of seven wins and two losses while Taguchi has three wins and five losses.
Cody Cruz will be joined by other fighters from Guam, which include Wenyu “One Time” Bamba (2W-4L), Thomas Cruz (2W-4L), and Peter “BIG MAC” Miyasaki (0W-0L). Bamba will be fighting against Trench Tech’s Darrel “The Derailer” Salas (5W-1L) at 180 lbs. Thomas Cruz will be facing Fasi “QuikDraw” Jesse (6W-2L) at 160 lbs. At 255 lbs, Miyasaki will be featured in a ‘super heavyweight match’ against team Zalaka’s Moses “Big Bang” Buekis (0W-1L).
Hailing from Guam’s Guahan Top Team, Rob “The Real Deal” Wusstig (3W-5L) will be confronting Team Bonds’ Tomoya Kato (8W-3L) at 150 lbs.
In addition, Predator Combat’s Ed “Styx” Castro (2W-0L) is matched against Slade “The Rage” Adelbai (7W-5L-1Draw). Other pro bouts for the night will feature: Marianas Elite’s Derrick “El Peligro” Rangamar (3W-9L) vs. ZengZung Tinian’s Craig “EarthQuake” Borja at 140 lbs; Predator Combat’s Martin “Ning” Cepeda (1W-1L) vs. USA’s Jason Kirklend (0W-0L) at 185 lbs; and Trench Tech’s Mark “The Dark” Nuique (5W-0L) vs. Team Haga’s CJ “FACE” Takai (2W-2L) at 140 lbs.
Kicking off the night will be “Tabi” Jay Muna (4W-10L) and “Badd” Brad Palacios (8W-3L) in a kickboxing bout, followed by a debut match between ZengZung Tinian’s Joe Ray “Manglo” Manglona and John “The Profit” Moses at 145 lbs.
Before Cody Cruz, Giovanni Sablan was originally set against Guam’s Ryan “The Dentist” Urquizu. Urquizu was unable to fight, due to a recent injury.
“I was kinda bummed out because I looking forward to fighting Ryan Urquizu and giving him the rematch he wanted,” said Sablan in an interview.
Cruz participated in last month’s Gorilla Warfare ‘Armageddon,’ fighting Keli “The Rukiz” Manglona for the middleweight title.
“I am excited to be fighting again in Saipan! I wanna let all the fans know that I am coming hard and I’m coming prepared this time!” said Cruz.
“I fight not only for myself, but I also fight for the people. When I go in there, it’s not just me – I go in there with the pride of my island,” said Sablan.
Doors will open at 7 p.m. and fights start at 8 p.m.
