Letter to the Editor: Honorable or wrong?

I was appalled at your choice of words, especially coming from an elderly official in our community.   I think your comments directly at me were completely uncalled for and unprofessional.  Bravo!  I do hope you feel like a real man now.  Of course, your qualities as one of our CNMI leaders I will never attempt to simulate or wish to possess.

What self-interest on my part are you talking about?  The only interest I have is to attempt to convince the leaders at the Legislature that supporting a higher education institution would be in the best interest of the entire community.  The only form of self-interest I understood from all the action on the H.B. 17-96 clearly stems from the Legislature.  Was it not you that said the additional funds will be used to cut grass and such other neighborhood projects?  Get your facts straight before making baseless accusations.  We all put in our fair share of expertise to continuously contribute to the effectiveness and efficiency of our government and our work.   What have you contributed?

Like you so clearly wrote I am only a budget technician in the “Finance Office back room” shuffling papers, doing my work and contributing to our only higher education institution my 110 percent.  I am actually surprised that you have the time to research petty issues as such but not to verify that those expenses are greatly affiliated to the grants that fund them.  At least I do my work so why don’t you start doing yours instead of finding offensive adjectives in the thesaurus to insult me.

I am completely disappointed in your perspective and I am hopeful some members of the community are too.  The way I see it, the only narrow view of the world originates from your office.  It is sad that you so arrogantly relay inept ideas but bravely succumb to hearsay.  I wonder if the community prefers that our future — our children — be less educated, at least just on Fridays in the meantime.  Or maybe they would prefer that you do your part to ensure that taxpayer funds are appropriately distributed.  Better yet, live up to your words and find some way to actually “bring prosperity to the people of the commonwealth,” like you so bluntly expressed.  I cannot wait to see what and how you will do this.  I just hope, aside from legalizing marijuana or expunging criminal records, you actually succeed.

Imagine that, direct hit, right on the spot.  Binechu!
