Isechal in a letter said a full audit of funds used by the House of Delegates from January 15 to Oct. 31 should be performed.
“The House of prides itself on its openness and transparency in all of its meetings and transactions and this transparency should especially be the case when use of public money is concerned,” Isechal said.
Isechal said the audit should include all travel and major expenses incurred by the delegates and why the Senate had to reprogram funds to the House of Delegates in the amount of $70,000.
“It is necessary to understand why the House was short of this amount of funds,” Isechal said.
He said given the financial situation of Palau, spending of government money should be well accounted for.
“I therefore respectfully ask that you present a formal request to the OPA for a prompt , comprehensive audit of all expenditures made by the House of Delegates and its members,” Isechal said.
