Uighurs still Palau bound

reports that The US Supreme Court Tuesday agreed to hear the case of Chinese Muslim.

“As far as I know, they are still going to Palau,” Toribiong said. The president said it is not clear yet when is the transfer.

He said that the Supreme Court hearing the case is a very significant event.

This new progress he said will determine whether the Uighurs can remain or enter the United States soil.

According to the AFP report the lawyers for the Uighurs turned to the Supreme Court when a federal judge’s decision that the men could be released onto US soil was overturned.

Six has accepted to go to Palau. There are 13 still remaining in jail. U.S. President Barack Obama said he will close the jail in January.

Preparations for their arrival in Palau is underway but has not been completed.

Earlier President Toribiong said the US will fund the Uighurs’ transition.
