Palau community elects youth officers

Association chairman Rufino Agun said the officers, who were elected by their peers, will serve as models of leadership and goodwill by being the voice for the Palauan youth.

“Being organized they can be heard and will be able to voice out what they want to happen in the community,” he said.

The officers are president Marla Helbert, a Northern Marianas College freshman; vice president  Joylynn Cabrera, Kagman High School 12th grader; treasurer Valyne San Nicholas, also a 12th grade at KagHS; secretary Richelle Mungwaath, 10th grader from Marianas High School; and human resources officer Foster Eltuk Chiokai, a ninth grader at MHS.

Their responsibilities include preserving the Palauan culture and language, organizing and facilitating youth-oriented activities.

They will collaborate with different government agencies in facilitating learning-oriented activities for teens.

Their activities will be held in collaboration with the Palauan Consulate on Saipan.
