SEVERAL athletes went home with medals after completing day 1 of the Northern Marianas Athletics Masters Athletics Championships Thursday at the Oleai Sports Complex.
Geza Baka III claimed the gold medal in the M30 division with a time of 8.95 seconds in the 60m event and 14.41s in the 100m.
Orrin Pharmin bagged gold in the M35 division with a 100m finish time of 12.53s.
In the M45 division, Nick Gross clocked 9.17s to win gold in the 60m.
Tony Ichiuo earned gold in the M60 division with a dominant 60m time of 9.42s.
Krista Hawley bagged two gold medals in the W55 division, running 9.85s in the 60m and 17.18s in the 100m.
Ronsa and Ronda Gross also sprinted strong in the W45 division.
In the 5000m race, the winners were Akiko Miller (W55) with a time of 21:32.59, Chad Taflinger (M40) with 22:27.69, and Joel Phair (M45) with 23:50.69.
In the javelin throw, the champions were Nick Gross (M45) with a distance of 41.14 meters, Tony Ichiuo (M60) with 36.60 meters, and Simon Necesito (M30) with 16.93 meters.
